Peach Music Festival 2013

This past Saturday I attended the Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA. It was my second festival of the summer (first was GrassRoots), and my first and only big name fest for the year. I was only able to go for the day Saturday because I didn’t want to leave the babe for too long, but it was a BLAST! It was definitely the coolest venue I’ve ever been to. There is a water park on site with a lazy river, wave pool, and water slides! The weather was hot and sunny too, perfect water park weather.

Butterfly on my Hoop

I brought my newest hoop that I made for myself (pictured above). It is purple/teal leopard print with purple sequin deco tape, black, and fluorescent yellow (black light reactive) gaffer tape. I will be listing it soon at the HoopBunny shop! The sad thing was, I didn’t even use it once all day! It was so crowded there wasn’t really enough open space to comfortably hoop to the music at the main stage. A butterfly landed on my hoop while I was waiting in the parking lot for the shuttle bus to the venue (I’m not even going to get into that terrible situation), and that was about as must action as my hoop got all day! I was having so much fun, this is also the only photo I took all day 🙂

I did see one girl hooping in the crowd on the lawn in front of the main stage with an awesome future hoop. She was only hooping in between sets and seemed to only be waist hooping because of the limited space. It was nice to see that hoopers were respecting others’ personal space. I hate being at a crowded event where hoopers are hitting people or taking up a ton of space to hoop. I feel like that causes certain people to really dislike hoops and hula hoopers. Believe me, there are some hoop haters out there! Lots of love and respect at the Peach Fest! Hopefully I can make it for the whole weekend next year.

Peace, Love, & Hooping xx

How to Collapse Your Hula Hoop

I’ve been meaning to make a video about this for a while and you can find some examples on YouTube showing how to collapse a hula hoop, but one of my Twitter friends recently requested photos on how to do this, so I figured I’d put it out there for all to see.

Start by holding your hoop upright with the connectors at the top & bottom of the hoop like so…

Place each hand on either side of the top connector.
Push down on the hoop while slightly twisting your right hand towards you & your left hand away from you.

Then fold one side of the collapsed hoop over the other side, folding it in half.

Voila! Now your hoop is collapsed!

Usually the hoop tries to unfold and will not stay collapsed (which is why my hand is in this pic). So I usually tie the hoop together with a pretty ribbon to keep if from unfolding.

I hope this helps! By the way, that is an Age of Aquarius Collapsible Hula Hoop which just so happens to be on sale (20% off!) until this Saturday!

See ya later happy hoopers!

My Hoop Path

With the launch of the new hooping.org I have found inspiration to start a blog that will chronicle my hooping journey. Although I started hooping with an adult size hoop about a year ago, only recently have a started getting more serious about it. I have started taking a Hula Fit class twice a week (on vaca this week, thank god, it’s been 95 degrees every day!) which is more of a work out class than a hoop dance class. I have learned a couple new tricks though, like the revolving door and realized I can hoop while on my knees (I am on my knees, not hooping on my knees).

Since it has been so hot out the last few days I haven’t been hooping at all. Hopefully it will cool off a little in the next hour or so seeing as how it’s dark now so I can get in a little time with my fuzzy hoop!

Fuzzy Hoop

Fuzzy Hoop!

So today after browsing the new hooping.org I started searching for decorative hoop tapes. I need to make myself a new hoop because mine is too small. I realized this after using the hoops in my Hula Fit class. I need one that is bigger so I can learn new moves more easily. Also, I think I am too tall for the size of it. Imagine that, ME, too TALL? hehe Anyway, aside from identi-tape.com which has been recommended by a lot of people on Hoopcity, I found some really cute tape on this site:http://www.modes4u.com/en/ just doing a Google search. I hope it will work. I think I’m going to order a few rolls anyway since it’s pretty cheap compared to other tapes. I’m thinking about getting a couple for possible future hoop gifts, but I want this one for myself cuz I love the cute little bunnies! (SUPRISE)

I do wish the bunnies were smiling though, why so sad?

OK off to spend some money and hang out with my REAL bunny bun.
