Excuses, Excuses
I know I have been neglecting my blog pretty badly lately. I have been SUPER busy with work stuff, vacations, etc. and having to come up with and teach a hoop fitness class in such a short period of time REALLY stressed me out. So anyway let me explain a bit…
Hoop2It fitness class is no longer. It was sort of sprung on me without any type of notice or planning so it was almost set to fail from the get-go. There was a lot of miscommunication and misunderstandings that got in the way of its success. What I had originally intended to do at Maximum Fitness was to have an hour or so set aside so that hoopers could get together and just hoop with others. I thought this “hoop jam” idea would be good for the winter since the weather is preventing us from getting outside and playing or working out with our hoops. As the word was spread to others at the gym it turned into more of an aerobics class, which I tried, but wasn’t appealing to the other hoopers that had been interested in my original plan. It was stressing me out having to plan a class (I am not in any way an aerobics instructor!) and trying to get people to attend the class. The timing of 9am on Saturdays was not ideal and I was told the women who had been attending the aerobics class were interested in trying my hooping class. This was not the case. Stressing about this class caused me to not want to do anything hoop related really because it seemed more like something I had to do than something I wanted to do. So now I am focusing on my hoop practice and hoop making so I can start selling my hoops again.
Another source of stress I have had for the past month or so was the Google Analytics certification test that I had to take for work. I don’t know if any of you are familiar with Google Analytics, but let me tell you it was NOT fun! I am not very tech savvy so it was a lot of learning for me. But last weekend I finally passed the GA test with a 90%! Woohoo! So now that the major stressors have been removed from my life (with the exception of having to work overtime for new Google Analytics and social media projects at work) I can focus more on my little website and building my Etsy site which I have been talking about doing FOREVER now. But really I am working on it! My major issue is that I have no graphic design skills whatsoever and I can’t even figure out how to fit a picture to the Etsy banner. ugh. This may take a little while so keep an eye out for HoopBunny Hoops on Etsy!

Lots of New Hoops!
Last week I made 8 new hoops to bring with me to my first hooping fitness class this past Saturday. I wasn’t sure how many people would come to the class or how many would want to purchase their own hoop so I just made a bunch! The class went well and 3 of these hoops went to new homes (and new hoopers!)… take a look 🙂
All are made with 3/4 in. 100 PSI tubing. To keep them on the cheaper side, all of these hoops were made with duct tape, vinyl tape, and/or gaffer tape.
The Gift of Hoop Giving
Merry (day after) Christmas! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, I sure did! Santa was veryyy good to me this year! Anyway, I wanted to share a couple of hoops I gave as gifts this year. They were my first attempts at making collapsible hoops and they came out pretty good, if I do say so myself!
This hoop is 3/4 in. 100 PSI with purple duct tape, teal duct tape, zebra print duct tape, and black electric tape. Usually I don’t like to use so much duct tape on one hoop because the ends tend to get stringy or show the white from underneath when I cut it in half. But, since the zebra print tape is already white it helped to cover that up and the black vinyl tape covered the rest of the ugly ends. The only thing I don’t like about collapsible hoops is that you can’t cover the ends of the tubing and connectors with tape because the tubing has to be able to twist around the connector in order for it to collapse, leaving the grey connector exposed a bit.
This hoop is also 3/4 in. 100 PSI. It is made with red vinyl tape, black vinyl tape, and card suit decorative tape. I was going to provide a link to this decorative tape, but I just found out they don’t sell it anymore! I guess I can only make 1 or 2 more with this tape so if you want it let me know!
It is so much fun to give hoops as gifts, always lots of smiles and giggles 🙂 I will be making lots more of these collapsible hoops in the near future for my soon-to-be Etsy shop. I will hopefully be working on that this coming week now that the holiday is over and I have a break from both yoga and HulaFit. This little break will also give me a chance to organize the upcoming hoop gathering that will be happening at Maximum Fitness soon (yay!). Happy holiday hooping!

2 New Hoops!
I have been making lots of new hoops lately in preparation for the holidays. Some I will be using for gifts and some I won’t. These are the first two in my recent batch, I’m not sure if they will be gifts or not yet, but here they are:
This one is made with blue vinyl tape and neon green 1 in. gaffer tape. Both this hoop and the purple/white one are made with 3/4 inch. 100 PSI tubing.
This one is made with purple duct tape, purple vinyl tape (the lighter/pinkish purple), and white vinyl tape. I made sure to put the duct tape on first because the sides tend to get stringy and aren’t very smooth so I wanted to cover that up with the other tapes. I like this one the best out of the two. I like to call it my Very Berry hoop 🙂
